The Boniface Group is an American Lutheran mission society based in Gem County, Idaho. The society’s primary mission is to evangelize the Treasure Valley of Idaho in accordance with the Old Evangelical rule of faith, which is comprised of the following:

  • The Holy Bible, being the inspired Word of God, “the only judge, rule, and standard, according to which, as the only test-stone, all dogmas shall and must be discerned and judged, as to whether they are good or evil, right or wrong”1 and the “sure rule and standard of a godly life and walk.”2 For, as we confess with Dr. Martin Luther of blessed memory, “it will not do to frame articles of faith from the works or words of the holy Fathers. … We have, however, another rule, namely: The Word of God shall establish articles of faith, and no one else, not even an angel.”3
  • The Book of Concord of 1580, being a correct exposition of the articles of faith established by the Word of God.

What We Do

To this end, The Boniface Group promotes “the mutual conversation and consolation of brethren”4 through training, equipping, and advising Christian men, that they might better understand and execute the works of their callings in Home, Church, and Civil Society:

Home

  • Ruling and governing their households by the Word of God and in accordance with natural reason, with the mind of Christ.
  • Loving their wives as their own flesh, ruling over them with gentleness, dwelling with them according to knowledge, giving honor unto them, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life.
  • Rearing their children in a godly manner, not provoking them to wrath, but bringing them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord and educating them in all pure arts and useful knowledge — directly, insofar as they are able, and indirectly, insofar as they have need, in partnership with other Christian families through the ministry of Christian schools and homeschool cooperatives.

Church

Diligently attending to the public preaching of God’s Word, holding it sacred and gladly hearing and learning it, and faithfully partaking of the Lord’s Supper, not forsaking the assembly of the local Christian congregation, as the manner of some is, but exhorting one another to faithfulness in earnest expectation of the Day of Lord.

Civil Society

Evangelizing their neighbors and building up their local communities through honest business, fraternal and civic engagement, and mutual defense against the lawless.

Beyond the Treasure Valley

The Boniface Group also trains Lutheran missionaries across the country for the work described above. For those men who live in regions of the country where the Old Evangelical faith has never taken root, or where it no longer flourishes, having been choked out by the thorns and thistles of false doctrine and hypocrisy, The Boniface Group trains and equips them to plant Old Lutheran congregations, guiding them through the process from start to finish and providing training, counsel, and resources for congregational leaders along the way.
